The Brookings newcomer program, Beyond Connections, will host four different events in 2018. Beyond Connections is a workforce development program of Brookings Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) created to bring people together to welcome new residents, network and build relationships.
“We launched this program last year and received a lot of positive feedback from new residents and the community,” said Stacy Aesoph, BEDC director of workforce development and organizer of Beyond Connections. “These events are important to welcome new residents and help them connect with others in the community.”
The 2018 Beyond Connections events include:
- Welcome Dinner
March 8 at 6 p.m.
Location: Old Market Eatery
Network and enjoy a private group dinner with a special menu. Cost: $35/person. RSVP required.
- Dakota Nature Park Biking & Walking
June 3 at 2 p.m.
Location: Larson Nature Center
Bike or walk the trails of Dakota Nature Park while socializing with new residents and community members at this family-friendly event.
- City-Wide Scavenger Hunt
26 at 2 p.m.
Location: Café Coteau
Discover all that Brookings has to offer and learn more about the community through this fun scavenger hunt! Pair up with a community member to increase your chances of winning. This is a family-friendly event.
- Welcome Social
8 at 4 p.m.
Location: Wooden Legs Brewing
The ‘Welcome to Brookings’ social for new residents and community members to network.
