BROOKINGS – Plenty of local businesses, organizations and individuals are bringing the blue this week.

Above, Manager Lisa Steenson came up with the idea to repaint all the red on the exterior of Ray’s Corner a bright blue in honor of South Dakota State University’s game against North Dakota State University. Volunteer Peggy Morris-Ferkul painted the front, bottom trim and even the side doorway in Jacks blue early Thursday afternoon and planned to do a second coat as soon as the first one dried. Ears up!

BROOKINGS – The City of Brookings has challenged community members to bring the blue by making and wearing blue Jackrabbit ears and challenging others to do the same.

They’ve put forth the following Jackrabbit challenge to the community:

“The City of Brookings challenges you to bring your blue. We challenge you to print the ‘Bring Your Blue’ Jackrabbit Ears project, which is available on the CityofBrookings.org website (link on the lower left side of the homepage), then get crafty (directions are included in the printout).

“After you’ve successfully arted, place them on your head and take a selfie. Share your picture on social media and challenge your friends, coworkers, businesses and family members to do the same. Let’s Bring the Blue for the Jackrabbits, Brookings!”

Share your selfie using the hashtags #JackrabbitChallenge and #BringTheBlue. The city also encourages community members to wear their Jackrabbit ears to the ESPN College GameDay event and SDSU football game.
