BROOKINGS – Every year the Brookings Arts Council is transformed into a winter wonderland of holiday splendor created around beautifully decorated trees and displays each with their own theme and style.

From whimsical to elegant and everything in between, this year promises to be no different.

The BAC is now signing up entries for its annual Festival of Trees.

There will be 15 trees available for decoration, and signup is open to all in the community.

The signup is available on the on BAC website and Facebook page, and calls and drop-ins will also be accepted.

“This year we are also asking community members that have a 3-D non-traditional tree that they would like to display at the Arts Council to please send a picture of the tree as well as the materials that were used to make it to,” BAC Executive Director Ashley Ragsdale said. “Our gallery will be themed Frozen Crystal Christmas, but decorators are free to decorate their tree in anyway there group chooses.”

The celebration’s special events this year include a local artisan shop, the Holly Leaf, musical performances throughout the holidays, a hot chocolate bar on Fridays and, of course, the trees. Watch the BAC website for special extra hours during the holiday season.
