Entrepreneurs interested in testing their business ideas invited to participate
Brookings Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) is excited to announce they will be hosting three Pop-up Markets this year for Brookings area entrepreneurs and innovators who wish to test the market and gain valuable feedback about their unique products and business ideas.
The events are free to attend, and will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3; Saturday, March 17; and Saturday, April 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Brookings City Recreation Center (armory building) on Main Avenue. Entrepreneurs can choose any or all dates, and there is no cost to participate.
“Last year’s markets were very well received by the Brookings community. We had 38 entrepreneurs participate and over 500 people attend,” said Jennifer Quail, director of entrepreneur support for BEDC. “These events provide a great opportunity to determine next steps for growing and emerging businesses.”
In order to qualify as a vendor, businesses cannot currently have a commercial location, according to Quail. A sales tax ID is required for entrepreneurs who wish to sell products. Last year’s list of participants included food, health and beauty products, furniture, arts, jewelry, games, travel services and more.
BEDC’s Division of Entrepreneur Support provides networking opportunities, education and resources to area entrepreneurs and small businesses. The program works with service providers, volunteers, and emerging and small businesses to create a cohesive support system for the entrepreneurial community.
