BROOKINGS – The City of Brookings invites qualified design/construction teams interested in an adaptive reuse/redevelopment opportunity of the historic armory building to submit statements of qualification.  

The armory and adjacent land is owned by the City of Brookings and will be made available for the project.

The Request for Qualifications process and structure is designed to encourage the assembly of design and construction teams for the adaptive reuse/redevelopment of the historic armory building into a commercial or mixed-use project.  

The property is City owned and is comprised of 0.975 acres with a former armory structure and 35-space public parking lot. The land is zoned Business B-1 Central District and is located within the Downtown Historic District.  

To ensure a successful project, the City would transfer ownership of the building and a portion of the land for $1, (assuming public parking would be offset). Additionally, the City will consider the utilization of TIF assuming an acceptable proposal warrants the use.

Interested parties should submit a response to the Request for Qualification with individual/company background and contact information by 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 25.
