Do you know a motivated, creative and business-savvy kid? Here is their chance to show off their talent and ingenuity and maybe even earn a little money! Brookings Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) is excited to announce that it is hosting a Kid-Preneur Pop-up Market on Saturday, July 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. as part of this year’s Crazy Days events.
The market, designed for ages 5-17, is open to kids with all types of business ideas, products and services. From selling lemonade, promoting a dog walking service, or selling one-of-a-kind art work, young entrepreneurs participating in the market will have the opportunity to learn about starting a business and gain valuable feedback from Brookings residents.
“We take a comprehensive approach to entrepreneurship in Brookings with programming for youth through retirement,” said Jennifer Quail, BEDC’s director of entrepreneur support. “We are hoping this event will generate excitement, energy and awareness regarding entrepreneurship as well as show our youngest residents that they can start a business and their ideas matter.”
There is no cost to attend or participate in the market, which will be held at 417 Main Avenue in downtown Brookings. If you know a child interested in participating, visit http://startupbrookings.com/kidpreneur/ or call Quail at (605) 697-8103 for more information. The public is encouraged to stop by and support Brookings’ young entrepreneurs – who knows where the next big idea will come from!
