Leading Brookings businesses to share how they are keeping employees safe

Some of the region’s top employers will be discussing best practices related to the COVID-19 pandemic at a virtual forum to be held on Thursday, April 23 at 2:00 p.m.

Organized and hosted by the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce and Brookings Economic Development Corporation (BEDC), the COVID-19 Response and Prevention Business Forum will focus on the planning and preventative measures that local companies have implemented. The forum will also feature medical experts who can provide the business community with additional resources needed to keep employees safe and healthy.

“Major employers have reached out and expressed their interest in sharing processes they have established in order to raise the bar for prevention within Brookings,” said Al Heuton, executive director of BEDC. “This forum presents an opportunity to communicate those practices with other companies and the community as a whole.”

Heuton will serve as the moderator and panelists include representatives from Larson Manufacturing, 3M, Daktronics, South Dakota Soybean Processors and Falcon Plastics as well as Avera Medical Clinic. The live virtual forum platform provides the capability for additional interaction with viewers submitting questions for the panelists through a chat window.

“We strongly encourage businesses from all industry sectors to participate and learn what practices they could replicate to prevent exposure to COVID-19,” said Kelsey Doom, president and CEO of the Chamber. “The forum will also be recorded and posted on our websites and social media platforms.”
