O’Reilly Auto Parts will open its 19th South Dakota store in Brookings, at the intersection of Minnesota Drive and Sunrise Ridge Road. Construction is well under way at the site, shown at right.
What started in 1957 with one family store in Springfield, Missouri, where it is still headquartered, O’Reilly Auto Parts now operates more than 5,560 stores in 47 states and more than 20 stores in Mexico.
The company’s stock is publicly traded on NASDAQ.
A corporate headquarters spokesman said the store will have first a soft opening followed by a more formal ribbon-cutting ceremony. He declined to offer any approximate date for either event.
The operator of the store will not be its owner; however, the spokesman did note that O’Reilly “promotes from within,” so the Brookings store operator will be somebody already within the company family.
O’Reilly Auto Parts’ mission statement notes that the company “intends to be the dominant supplier of auto parts in our market areas by offering our retail customers, professional installers, and jobbers the best combination of price and quality provided with the highest possible service level,” according to its website.
“In order to accomplish this mission, O’Reilly will provide a benefit and compensation plan that will attract and keep the kind of people that will enable the company to reach its goals of growth and success.”
