Pop-up market to highlight new businesses
By Brookings Economic Development Corporation
Do you have a great idea for a new product or service? Are you ready to test your business idea to see if it will be successful? Brookings area entrepreneurs are invited to participate in the Brookings Pop-up Market to be held three Saturdays this spring.
Jennifer Quail, director of entrepreneur support for Brookings Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) and organizer of the event, describes the pop-up market as a way for someone thinking about launching a new business to validate their idea prior to committing to a commercial location.
“The pop-up concept has been gaining popularity across the nation,” Quail said. “These one-day shopping experiences provide a unique opportunity for local artists, makers, innovators, food vendors, service providers and entrepreneurs to showcase their products and business ideas.”
The Brookings Pop-up Market will be held on March 11, April 15 and May 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Brookings City Recreation Center on Main Avenue. There is no cost to participate as a vendor, and there is no cost for the general public to attend the market. Vendors can pick any or all of the dates and selling at the market is allowed with a valid sales tax ID number, according to Quail.
“Brookings continues to be very supportive of business start-ups and local entrepreneurs,” said Quail. “The pop-up market will help generate community feedback, which is vital for any new venture.”
