All of the universities ranked are regionally or nationally accredited and provide online programs that stand out from the rest in terms of offered programs, student resources, financial aid and much more.

“We are seeing that online has become a preferred method of learning,” said Lindsey Hamlin, director of SDSU’s Office of Continuing and Distance Education. Approximately 65 percent of SDSU students take at least one online class. “It is something this generation has been exposed to already at a young age. Even during high school, many students are taking online classes and they are excelling in those courses.

“One key component to our success is the number of online degrees offered. We offer 45 online degrees and certificates, with additional online programs launching in the coming years,” said Hamlin. “The more online programs, the more online students. As long as we continue to add quality online programs that lead to in-demand careers, we are going to see growth.”’s online degree rankings are unique in that they emphasize accessibility, affordability and quality of education, which were considered the most important attributes in the rankings.
