BEDC announces free, virtual hiring event with local employment opportunities
Job seekers hoping to make a fresh start, find a better job, or explore a new career direction will discover a wealth of exciting opportunities at the Brookings Area Virtual Job Fair hosted by Brookings Economic Development Corporation (BEDC).
This free, virtual experience will be held on Thursday, October 15th from 11:00AM – 2:00PM. Job seekers are encouraged to participate in the job fair at their convenience, and in the comfort of their own homes, during the designated event hours. Local companies will be attending and looking to hire individuals for immediate openings in a wide range of fields.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a significant disruption in the ability of local businesses to meet with potential employees,” BEDC’s director of workforce development, Sarah Hauge, said. “We are excited to be able to offer this unique virtual event to allow a safe, yet meaningful experience to connect job seekers with the variety of opportunities available here the Brookings area.”
A similar event was held for SDSU students and local employers in September with over 150 students and 20 local employers participating, according to Hauge. While the SDSU job fair’s primary focus was on part-time opportunities ideal for students, the community job fair will showcase different types of positions including full-time, part-time and temporary jobs.
